Tree Inventory Report for 2940 Alum Rock Avenue Project
FCS completed a Tree Inventory Report for a proposed affordable housing project, surveying a 3.4-acre site and Off-site Improvement Area. ISA-Certified Arborists identified tree species, measured trunk diameters, tagged trees, and assessed project impacts on tree preservation or removal.
Martin Rasnick Memorial Research Scholarship

Project Highlight
Santa Clara Digital Sign and RelocationOutfront Media, a national outdoor advertising company, consulted with FCS to analyze the visibility of a proposed digital sign along Highway 101 in Santa Clara utilizing 3D modeling and animation. As the sign location is adjacent to a planned interchange redesign, Outfront needed to understand the potential impacts the planned interchange would have on the visibility of its proposed sign to northbound travelers of the highway.

The FCS grants team collaborated closely with our Tribe to create a compelling grant application for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Thriving Communities Program. Their expertise was evident in their understanding of our challenges, such as building infrastructure on thawing permafrost and unstable tundra, as well as their meticulous approach to addressing our community's unique needs. The project aims to improve the quality of drinking water and protect the environment by closing an old, contaminated landfill and building a new one at a higher location. This will help to remove toxins from the nearby river, which is essential for our subsistence fishing activities, and help to foster a healthier environment.
I am thoroughly impressed with the FCS Grant Writing and Management team's efficiency, creativity, and incredible attention to detail. Our grant application would not have been competitive without their critical guidance and expertise. If this team reflects the level of capability and energy found across the various FCS departments, I truly hope to have the opportunity to collaborate with more of them in the future.
Rachel has been really great to work with and has been leading the EIR process extremely well. She takes the lead when needed, but also works really well with all of our “cooks in the kitchen!”. I have been through CEQA before, but working with Rachel and FCS has been very helpful.
Not only were we very satisfied and impressed with the quality of work that was provided, but also the attention that you and your team paid to community comments, and special requests from council members and others. You helped the process move forward in a timely and efficient manner, with clearly documented conclusions, which is exactly what any agency, developer and community could hope for.
FirstCarbon Solutions’ staff members have always exhibited dedication to providing a comprehensive and legally defensible CEQA document that is delivered on time and within budget. Their dedication to meeting timeline goals and objectives has always been appreciated.
I just wanted to take a minute and thank you for your most excellent work on behalf of our LA Fitness project. When we had a late City mandate for three more unanticipated Planning Studies, I thought we would never gain our entitlements in time. [...] You made the rather foreboding Air Quality, Greenhouse Gas and Cultural studies (including coordination with Indian tribes) quite seamless due to your relationship with the City. Thank you, we appreciate your good work on our behalf!
FCS was very knowledgeable and helpful guiding the District through the different steps that needed to be taken as well as informed the District on how to proceed with mitigating the impacts identified in the MND. Since that time, the District has engaged FCS for additional work products, and FCS has consistently demonstrated their expertise and their responsiveness in meeting the District's needs.
